On July 6, 2026, the Symposium 2026 for Eco Forum Global Guiyang was held at the Guiyang International Eco-Conference Center. The Eco Forum Global Guiyang is a major national-level platform for international exchange and cooperation in the field of ecological and environmental development. Serving as an important bridge between two editions of the forum, the symposium was held under the theme “From Consensus to Practice: Guizhou’s Response to the Global Agenda.” It aimed to support preparations for the 2027 forum, strengthen the forum’s institutional mechanisms, and contribute to Guizhou’s high-quality development. More than 100 representatives attended the event, including participants from central government ministries and commissions, international organizations, universities, research institutes, think tanks, non-governmental organizations, financial institutions, businesses, and the media. The symposium comprised five sessions: opening remarks, keynote speeches, thematic discussions, a consultation on the overall framework for the 2027 forum, and a plenary meeting of the Forum Advisory Committee. Xu Lin, Secretary of the CPC Guizhou Provincial Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Guizhou Provincial People’s Congress, attended the event. Li Bingjun, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Guizhou Provincial Committee and Governor of Guizhou Province, delivered remarks. Zhao Yongqing, Chairman of the Guizhou Provincial Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, and Ma Hancheng, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Guizhou Provincial Committee, were also present. The opening ceremony was chaired by Yang Tongguang, Deputy Director of the Forum Executive Committee and Vice-Governor of Guizhou Province.

As a member of the Forum Advisory Committee, Liu Chunlong, Secretary-General of the China Environmental Protection Foundation, delivered a special presentation on plans for the 2027 forum. He offered recommendations on the design of thematic forums, the development of substantive outcomes, green event management, and special activities.

During the symposium, Secretary-General Liu Chunlong also presented the China Environmental Protection Foundation’s practical experience and achievements over the 33 years since its establishment. The Foundation carries out more than 100 public-interest projects annually on average and has accumulated extensive frontline experience in areas including climate action, biodiversity conservation, and ecological restoration. In 2025, the Foundation organized a thematic event at Eco Forum Global Guiyang and launched the Guiyang Initiative for Green Philanthropy. The Zhenhua Fund for Green Transition and Sustainable Development established a platform for exchanges on local climate action. The Qingshan Public Welfare Special Fund released Good Cups, New Life: Green Innovation Practices (2025–2026) and supported the restoration of small karst wetlands in Guizhou, as well as the construction of environmentally friendly playgrounds at schools in the province. These initiatives have contributed to rural revitalization and the development of education. Secretary-General Liu emphasized that philanthropic organizations serve as a natural bridge between public policy and the wider public. He expressed the hope that the 2027 forum would provide greater scope for philanthropic organizations to participate, enabling green philanthropy to become a powerful collective force in advancing ecological civilization.
At the conclusion of the symposium, participants agreed that the event had directly addressed the urgent needs of global environmental governance while drawing on Guizhou’s longstanding experience in advancing ecological civilization. The discussions not only provided a systematic review of existing consensus but also explored practical pathways for translating that consensus into action, laying a solid foundation for the successful convening of Eco Forum Global Guiyang 2027. Participants expressed their commitment to further deepening cooperation, turning the global consensus on ecological civilization into concrete action, and jointly opening a new chapter in the global pursuit of harmonious coexistence between humanity and nature.
