On June 30, 2026, China Environmental Protection Foundation (CEPF) held a launch ceremony for the Phase I lavender planting project under its Tongchuang Chanson Green Xinjiang Designated Fund in Kekedala City, the 4th Division of Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps (XPCC). Established in 2025 with financial support from Tongchuang Group, the Designated Fund targets ecological remediation of degraded saline-alkali farmland in Xinjiang while developing a sustainable lavender industry to advance ecological conservation, rural revitalization and shared prosperity for border communities.
Between 2026 and 2029, the project will carry out ecological improvement on no less than 66.67 hectares (about 1,000 Chinese mu) of saline-alkali and compacted low-yield farmland. Core remediation targets include lifting soil organic matter levels and reducing soil salinity. Parallel construction of standardized lavender planting bases will foster the growth of local characteristic agriculture and raise incomes for farmers and XPCC employees.
The initiative operates under a collaborative model: Foundation + Leading Enterprise + Farmer Cooperatives + Individual Growers. This framework supports the development of a full industrial chain covering lavender seedling breeding, eco-friendly cultivation, essential oil extraction, finished product development and Eco-tourism integration. The complete value chain will deliver stable local employment and long-term income growth for residents across the border region.
