Invited Participation of China Environmental Protection Foundation in the 2025 World Conservation Congress

On October 9, the World Conservation Congress (WCC) grandly opened in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. This global conservation event attracted extensive participation from government representatives, scientists, environmental organizations, and non-governmental groups from around the world. As a member unit of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), our foundation sent representatives to attend the congress and actively engaged in discussions and exchanges on various topics in accordance with the congress agenda. This participation will broaden our horizons, enhance friendships and cooperation with international peers, and contribute our efforts to the advancement of global nature conservation.

The World Conservation Congress (WCC), convened quadrennially, stands as one of the most influential gatherings in the international conservation arena. Under the theme "Empowering Transformative Conservation", the current session addresses pivotal topics including: scaling up climate-resilient conservation initiatives; mitigating risks associated with climate overshoot (referring to temporary exceedance of the Paris Agreement targets); advancing equity and justice; transitioning toward nature-positive economic and social models; and supporting disruptive innovation and leadership for nature conservation.

During the congress, our foundation's representatives will adhere to the agenda and participate in various activities. Additionally, we will showcase a number of CEPF’s environmental public welfare projects during the networking sessions, including the Zhenhua Fund and the Green Power Ark project. These initiatives not only reflect the innovative practices of Chinese environmental public welfare organizations in conservation efforts but also demonstrate to the world China's firm determination and concrete actions in ecological protection.

CEPF's in-depth participation in this congress has not only elevated our influence in the field of international nature conservation but also broaden our perspectives and accumulate valuable experience through exchanges and collaboration with environmental organizations and experts from other countries and regions, laying a solid foundation for future environmental initiatives.
