In 2024, the China Environmental Protection Foundation continued its partnership with Toyota Motor (China) Investment Co., Ltd., implementing the "Toyota Longhua Sustainable Rural Development Project" for 2023-2025. In 2024, the project received the "Charitable Project of the Year" award at the 2024 Charity Ceremony and was selected as a corporate social responsibility case study by China National Radio. The project maintains its core philosophy of being "people-centered and development-focused," dedicated to promoting comprehensive rural progress and contributing to building a harmonious society.
In 2024, Phase II of the Toyota project entered a crucial stage and achieved remarkable results. At the ecological farming base, with support from the Chinese Academy of Forestry's technical team working alongside local villagers, raspberry cultivation management was optimized through land leveling and soil improvement, helping achieve target yields and quality standards. The environmental education base underwent significant upgrades, including installing new directional signs and interpretive panels, curriculum development, enhanced interactive facilities, and organized educational activities. The mini-program was comprehensively optimized and upgraded, with the 17th version release featuring improved functionality and enhanced interactivity. The project invited the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, CAS to design nature education activities and conduct biodiversity surveys at the project site.
The project will further enhance its comprehensive competitiveness through several key initiatives: continuing development of the ecological farming base to achieve mass production, upgrading the nature education base into an environmental science education center, developing distinctive environmental education and cultural creative products, and providing tangible public welfare services related to the automotive industry and eco-tourism. The project aims to create a distinctive and replicable development model in areas like "industrial ecology and ecological industrialization" and green low-carbon development across rural regions. It will vigorously develop nature-based environmental education activities and ecological volunteer services. By integrating with existing local dining, leisure, and tourism services, the project will establish a comprehensive demonstration zone for natural environmental protection, facilitating the transformation of traditional tourism. These efforts will ultimately help achieve the project's sustainable development goals.
