In July 2024, the China Environmental Protection Foundation, in collaboration with the China Iron and Steel Association and Cargill Investment (China) Co., Ltd., officially launched the "Beautiful China Steel Pioneer" project. Through meticulously designed training courses, cutting-edge industry practice sharing, and the release of authoritative industry reports, the project aims to work closely with partners to seize the historic opportunity for green upgrading within the steel industry. It strives to reduce energy consumption from the outset and contribute to achieving China's "dual carbon" goals. Additionally, the project supports the low-carbon transformation of China's energy sector and fosters new quality productivity in the steel industry.
Throughout 2024, the project organized three training sessions on green and low-carbon transformation capacity building in the steel industry, held in Rizhao, Shandong; Pudong, Shanghai; and Xiamen, Fujian. These sessions focused on the latest trends, technological advancements, and successful case studies in green and low-carbon transformation within the industry. The training courses featured lectures and presentations by experts and guests from various sectors of the steel industry, including:The Environmental Development Center of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment,The Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences,Xiamen University,Central South University,Beijing Ecological Rule of Law Research Association,Beijing Green Exchange,Shanghai Environment and Energy Exchange,Baowu Iron and Steel Group,Shougang Low Carbon Team,Nanjing Iron and Steel Industry Development Research Institute,CCID Chongqing Environmental Consulting Co., Ltd.,Bozhong Zhihe Energy Transformation,Beijing Zhongchuang Carbon Investment Technology Co., Ltd. and Siya Energy Consulting (Beijing) Co., Ltd.
More than 350 representatives from enterprises involved in the green and low-carbon development of the iron and steel industry participated in these training sessions.
